The Dead Barrens

Inhabited almost entirely by goblinoids of various descriptions, this hot, arid wasteland only narrowly avoids the classification of "desert." A desert, by definition, is an area which receives an average of 25cm of rain a year or less. The Dead Barrens receive an average of 40cm of rain a year, most of which falls during the terrifying flash-floods of the Storm Moon. What plant life grows here is sparse and tough, and the creatures which live in the dry, sun-baked slot canyons are likewise hardy. Goblinoids of all races hail from this region, including goblins, bugbears, hobgoblins, barghests, norkers, verdan, and the koalinths off the northeastern shore. Long dominated by the Hobgoblin Shogunate, the Dead Barrens are now the Gipdak Province of the Chatia Empire.
