The Kindred’s of the Folkvargr are like clans within the clan. They are the competitive collectives that run all throughout Folkvargr society. The Kindred’s and the competitions that run at certain times of the year are a way for the Folkvargr to show their strength, honour, wit and wisdom. This is all in aid of the ultimate goal of the Folkvargr; to regain Humanity’s worthiness, and the return of the Gods.
There are two main points of the year where the Kindred’s compete against each other; at Yule and at Solis. The winning Kindred often receives boons and gifts as a reward. The Folkvargr generally see the gestures as a bonus; it’s the competition that is important, and their Kindred’s can be like an extended family to many.
The practice of Kindred games extends back over 100 years. The original way the Kindred’s were split is lost, but today Kindred’s are usually family orientated, with children joining their Kindred when they become old enough to compete (12). Individuals can change Kindred; with marriage for example (though this isn’t mandatory), orr an individual can ask to join another Kindred; this must be voted in or out by the head of each family within that Kindred.
