Alfar
The Alfar are the original inhabitance of Alfheim. They are ruled by the High Alfar, called the Lloss; within which are the ruling Royal family of the world. They are a long eared race, with a natural elegence. Alfar can be found on Alfheim, Vanaheim or Asgard (though only the Lloss live on Vanaheim and Asgard). They are an ancient race and longer-lived than Humans (approximately 200 years). There are three different types of Alfar, letting there be some differences with interpretations of elves.
The Lloss
are known for bright colours that tend to be less natural than their other bretheren. A naturally reserved folk, but this is not always the case.
The Vighta
are known for lighter clothing, creams and light browns. A very laid back, and happy people in general.
The Dokkar
are known for darker clothing, dark browns and blacks. They are quite highly strung as a general rule.
All Alfar like to adorn their faces with intricate patterns with are semi permanent, which is an art from amongst the Alfar, with the best artists gaining a lot of prestige to do this with society. These tend to be along the hairline, and up the nose and brow and not on the lower part of the face.
Alfar can be found on Alfheim, Asgard, & Vanaheim. Below is an overview of what life is like for Alfar on each realm.
For information on Alfar specific costume and physreps, please see the Alfar Costume & Physreps pages.
ALFHEIM
Alfar on their home realm are in all aspects of life. The three types are the Lloss, Vighta and Dokkar.
The Lloss, mainly located within the central district of the Alfar capital Tallallamé, are made up of various Houses. Each house has representatives which make up the Alfarian Assembly who debate and decide on Alfheim law and policy, precided over by a member of the Royal family. Both the Vighta and the Dokkar are not allowed upon the Assembly, but many hold positions within Lloss households, as well as making up the bulk of the trade, farming and craft of the realm. There is always disagreement between the two, but it is generally good natured.
Camp Status
Status 2
The Alfar are seen as higher in status in normal life compared to Humans by the ruling class of Alfheim, and this is also the case within their camp on Midgard as well.
ASGARD
Only Lloss Alfar settled upon Asgard following Ragnarok. These are mainly those few who still hold to the former worship of Frey, even though the God is dead. They mainly now work within the households of the Aesir, and feel themselves to be above both their people still on Alfheim for still serving the Gods, but below all others on Asgard, including humans. Humans were created by the Gods, whereas Alfar were not, and believe that as such they are not above humans, but below them.
They are not necessarily treated as such by the Aesir, nor the humans on Asgard, but it doesn't stop them thinking like this, and acting like it. Their brethren at home find their ways baffling, and see them as deserters. Frey was appointed their King by Odin; it was never their choice.
Camp Status
Status 1
The Lloss Alfar upon Asgard see themselves as lower, rather than necessarily being treated as such; acting as servants, or runners, as well as advisors.
VANAHEIM
If there were few Alfar who went to Asgard, even fewer went to Vanaheim. Those who did go were members of the Lloss who did not like the rise of Provenance upon their home world, and wanted to continue their worshop of the Gods, or lesser members of the Families who could not rise to influence on their home realm.
Camp Status
Status 1
Even though all are treated equal upon Vanaheim, the people of the current Council Leader are treated with more reverence out of natural respect for those associated with power. Currently this is a Jotunborn.
As such, even though they are not seen as 'below' anyone else, the Jotunborn are currently naturally treated with more reverence than the Lloss Alfar due to the association with power.
