Raiders of the Stolen Egg

General Summary

July 4-9 - Ladybird, Kite, Sam, & Perrin
Received a message from Chie saying that a community had had something stolen, and that he'd appreciate their presence posthaste to retrieve it.
Ran in wolf form to the Endless Party, found Chie-sama in conversation with an elf, who he introduced as Silvu Mi’jah, from the Aranea village.
Silvu led them to the village as the sun set. They arrived in Lian’temar and were confronted by the 1st Fang, Izzueh Ga’nah, who didn't like them but still took them to meet with Speaker Jagraki Che’nah in the central treehouse.
After the Speaker described the situation, a scream was heard outside, and as some of the guard rushed out to investigate, a group of Ettercaps dropped from the ceiling and demanded that the Speaker give up his Heartsblood Pendant or be killed. Naturally, the party slaughtered the invaders, and offered to retrieve the egg and the stolen journal in the morning.
They were asked by Izzueh to take the Weaver (named Shifyna Zi’’rah, a relatively young and inexperienced aranea woman) because the Weaver had insisted that she needed to go, in order to speak with the spirit of Dronnar, Ellynthrine's husband.
They moved out, crossed the polluted river, and passed through a gauntlet of traps, killing a few guards on the way. Eventually they made it to the tomb, where they found dead and drained ettercaps in the antechamber, along with an elven ghost with slit-pupil eyes. The ghost recognized them as having something to do with his wife, and invited them into the tomb proper, where they found him standing in front of a burnt dragon skeleton, with horns similar to Evras'.
The ghost introduced himself as Dronnar, and they brought him up to speed on what was going on. He offered to help, if they would take along a piece of the blade that had trapped his soul, and then scanned the area to see where the ettercap had taken his wife's egg. He located it, but also a dark presence that he called a "Nightcrawler," though he couldn't talk about that in more detail thanks to the geas.
Perrin took a shard of the blade, which Dronnar called Anama Glacainne, and stuck it into the back of his neck, so that the ghost could partially inhabit his body. The party left the tomb and followed Dronnar's directions (through Perrin's mouth) towards a dilapidated treehouse in the back of the village, where they saw a flicker of shadow through the webbing over the windows.
The party decided to create a distraction in one of the entrances, hoping to draw attention away from the egg so that Kite could sneak in from another doorway and grab it. When they entered, they saw a shadowy Linnorm inside a magic circle, working some sort of dark magic on the egg, and a massive mutated ettercap in the process of draining another ettercap dry.
The linnorm shouted to the ettercap to deal with the intruders, but otherwise seemed content to leave the fighting to its minion. After Kite snatched the egg, though, the linnorm got very angry and directed the ettercap to retrieve the egg. The party managed to kill the monster before it could go far, but the linnorm shouted that he had given the creature "the Master's blessing" for a reason, and that death wasn't the end, at which point the monster stood back up and began regrowing its burnt-off head. The party swung back into action once more, and killed it (again) before it could get any closer to Kite.
The linnorm began to dissolve slowly after the ettercap's final death, and made various threats towards the party, removing Kite's and Ladybird's invisibility and saying that he'd remember their faces, but otherwise not doing anything besides throwing taunts around before his image dissipated.
The party took the egg and journal, returned the shard of Anama to Dronnar's tomb, and made their way back to the aranea village, where they were hailed as heroes. Rewards were given, and one of them was two doses of a magical incense that would let them experience memories stored in Ellynthrine's journal. They chose to learn about the Bane, and about Dronnar's death.
