Leechmen

In the swamps of Eastern Agartha live the Leechmen. This name is derived from their worship of a being referred to by them as The Leechfather. They are known for their double lidded eyes, mouths that are wider than a human’s and filled with many teeth, oily skin, and for their diet of blood. They are adapted for life in the swamps, able to see and breathe in the murky waters as well as being resistant to diseases. Despite what the other residents of Agartha will tell you, the Leechmen are in fact sapient. And they have a long history, culture, and civilization. While the Leechmen don’t make a habit of eating other people they also aren’t the friendliest, tending to avoid non-Leechment. While trade does occur, it is very limited in scope. Politically the Leechmen are not a united people, instead being divided into different tribes and petty kingdoms. However they do have a common identity as Leechmen, and see themselves all as members of the same people. They call this concept of a united Leechmen polity Zul Guror which is also their word for the Leechdens.
