The Mana Fallacy
The Mana Fallacy is a highly controversial book written by D.T. Thanasis that aims to argue against the concept of Mana.
Purpose
The purpose of The Mana Fallacy is to argue against the existence of mana and argue for the absense of any unifying theory of the strange. Thanasis asserts that the extent of how the supernatural functions is too unpredictable for mana to explain, and that the laws of reality are merely guidelines that the universe can ignore at a whim.
While he never gave a name to this view of reality, future philosophers have expanded on this idea and coined it the Thanatian view of reality.
Historical Details
Background
During his time living in Zothique, Thanasis developed an almost absurdist view of The Boundless Expanse from those around him, and became a strong believer of sand grain theory. He rejected the authority of all gods and higher powers, including those Zothiquians worship.
He did not change these views on his later travels around Lemuria, and grew annoyed by the theory of mana they frequently quote.
Public Reaction
The Mana Fallacy caused outrage throughout Lemuria, as it went against their core values. The Kingdom of Madagar routinely burned Thanasis' books, and eventually barred him from entering the country at all.
Legacy
To this day, The Mana Fallacy continues to be one of the most controversial pieces of literature throughout the Boundless Expanse. The reputation Thanasis got jump started his popularity and got his other books into the spotlight.
