Yilik Shaŗīr

A huge wagon, piled high with bags full of what could only be yilik fruit glided by inches above the ground, pulled by two huge baudainash.   "Papa! Papa! It's the yilik wagon! Can we go to Yonīti for the Yilik Festival? Please, can we?"   Bashai looked towards her wife with a raised eyebrow. She slightly inclined her head, with a purposeful glare.   "I don't know… We haven't got all the harvest in yet, and the capital is a long journey…"   Kiki looked down dejectedly for a moment. Then "but, Papa, it's almost done… and I'll work real hard to help finish it. I bet we can finish by the end of the day!"   "Hmmm." Bashai softened his face. "Ok, if you work real hard today, we can leave at first light."   "Really‽ Yay!" Kiki ran up to his father, jumped, and put his arms around him in a tight hug.
The yilik wagons make their trip to all the capital cities of the Eastern Principalities and Īyonī once a year, a week or so after the spring equinox, bringing yilik fruit for all to enjoy at the Yilik Festival.   The wagon is ritually constructed of yilik wood. It travels on special skids, built in Rotai and embued with magic to keep it hovering above the ground as it is moved. When the wagon comes to a stop, it settles to the ground, no longer floating. All it takes is a tug at the hitch to cause it to raise back up.   Each wagon carries thousands of fruit. They are pulled by teams of two large baudainash each. The baudainash are needed even though the skids lift the wagon off the ground since the wagon still has a significant amount of mass and inertia. Usually one wagon goes to each capital, where the celebrations are held.   There is always enough fruit in the wagon for each person attending to get one, sometimes more.
