Early Life
Amira Vargas was born in the idyllic countryside of San Cardel in the summer of 190 2E to parents who were devout followers of the Decentur faith. Her early childhood was dominated by her parents' strict adherence to the ways of their faith, forcing her into a sheltered and somewhat isolated life, a feeling not helped by her family's remote home. She listened to them and followed them as any good child would, though deep inside, a rebellious seed of resentment began to sprout. The idea of exploring the wider world she knew little about filled her with fear, but it was there the real Amira would grow. She knew that one day, she'll need to leave and run far away from home if she wished to live her own life.
Renegade Years
When she was sixteen, the shaking nature of her family's faith finally snapped. Looking for a chance to live her own life, Amira ran away under the cover of night. She traveled far until she ran into a group of wandering outlaws led by a man named Felix Dumeni. Dumeni and his band believed in the principles of living a free life while bringing down those who strip others of their freedom. Young Amira, knowing their sentiments well herself, joined the band on their personal crusade of personal freedom. During her time within the group, she learned how to become deadly with the sword and grew to be one of the best fighters in the group.
Dumeri and his band traveled far, raiding the estates of the rich and being a nuisance to Decentur church officials. The gang welcomed any who believed in their cause, especially those who were downtrodden and destitute because of society's cruelty. Their travels would take them across northeastern San Cardel, eventually finding themselves farther north into Barbaross, and soon ending in New Brauven.
The gang's days in New Brauven were mired in tragedy, for their luck was beginning to run thin. With officials from Barbaross and New Brauven on their tail, Dumeni and his constantly found themselves on the run from the law. Worse still, they soon found themselves in the crosshairs of the Castix, the leader of
Rass Sivina for encroaching on their turf. These rough years culminated in the Coquelin Overlook massacre, where Dumeni's gang was caught in a two-pronged assault from both the law and the Rass Sivina. The night was a chaotic three-way slaughter between the two gangs and the law that saw many casualties on all sides, including Dumeni himself. Amira was able to escape the massacre with her life, though she is unsure if anyone else made it as well.
Following the death of the old gang, Amira now travels the roads of New Brauven as a sellsword and bounty hunter, helping out whoever pays best.
The Wraith of Norbois
In the autumn of 214 2E, Amira learned about a job in the tucked-away lumbering town of Norbois to dispel a strange fog in the nearby woods. Not seeing many reasons not to take it, she made her way to the town. There she, another sellsword named Niklas, and two knight errants from Vionhol Marc and Gauthier. The errants shared the local baron's disbelief in the stories of a monster lurking in the woods, while Amira and Niklas didn't share these sentiments. Once they pierced the wall of fog and entered the woods, the truth would reveal itself. Lurking within the woods was a sadistic Wraith that had slaughtered all within the woods. The fight against the Wraith was an utter massacre that only she walked away from alive.
Once she returned from the woods with the Wraith's skull in hand and claimed her reward, Amira left Norbois behind and let the road take her. She does not know for certain where it will take her next, searching for a newfound purpose in life.
