Aldred II the Good
King Aldred Syrincore, the Good
King Aldred the Good is the king of Eremere at the start of 998 EL and the book. Widely regarded as one of the great kings of Eremere, he was immensely popular with the people and with much of the nobility. Significantly, he oversaw closer relations with rulers on the Continent, such as Prince Riordas Accuran, as well as bringing domestic relations with House Whitemount to heights not seen since Biddacrow's Conquest through his marriage to Amelie Whitemount. His reign saw greater peace, reconciliation, and cooperation between his vassals, but in the last years of his reign old grudges began to take precadence and he struggled to prevent conflicts from brewing over into war, such as Richard's War for the Rush.
Appearance and Character
In his youth, Aldred had dark hair, but by 998 EL it had turned grey with age. Similarly, he was very pale in his later years, his skin wrought with wrinkles. He was a tall and slender man in his youth. He was well known for his youthful eyes and playful spirit, while maintaining his royal dignity. Throughout his reign, Aldred sought to place his people first, and recognised his status as king as a privilege that came with responsibilities. He was dedicated and committed to his role as king. For this, the people loved him, and the nobles enjoyed the stability and relative prosperity of his reign.Relationships
