Petra Shameer is a Kalyrian ashari woman living near Shearstone, where she owns and runs a tavern called the Wayward Sailor. She is also a widow and the current lover of Sir Oather Harkin.

Appearance and Character

Petra has flowing golden hair with a tendency to knot and curl considerably, especially following the passionate nights she shares with Oather. She is green-eyed and often wears dark red lipstick.
She is incredibly willful and due to the fortune of owning a business and property in her own right, she is far more independent than most women in Eremere are allowed to be. With a strong wit and a formidable personality, she has earned the respect of her community. She is also very sexually driven, and she often uses flirting as a means to an end. She is a passionate and forward lover to Oather, and many came before him. Unusually, she is not ashamed of her sexual history, although she is not immune to insult for it.

Personal history

Petra was born in the Kalyrian Triarchy to a merchant father and a mother who owned a brothel. While her parents kept her away from the business as a child, her teenage curiosity led her to discover much of her own sexual freedom.
While working as a tailor's assistant in Toredos, Petra met her husband. He owned a tavern and dreamed of opening one in Eremere, where the weather was cooler and the market for alcohol far stronger. Charmed by his sense of adventure, Petra agreed to marry him and they were wed within a month. The marriage was rocky after a period and the pair bickered constantly, and he eventually became abusive. He died under unknown circumstances two years into their marriage.
With her husband dead, Petra inherited his tavern. Business, however, collapsed as rumours spread that she had killed him. With enough money from selling the tavern, Petra sailed alone across the Ageing Sea, but only had enough money to reach The Rocklands. Far from the bustling streets of Crow's Rest or the gentle hills of Beaucroft, Petra made do with the windswept but friendly town of Shearstone. With the money she had saved for her business, she bought a tavern and renamed it the Wayward Sailor in honour of her journey.
In 995 Petra met Oather Harkin, a knight who had recently taken up the post of sentinel for Dragnor Blackstone, the high earl of the Rocklands. By 998, the pair were intimate lovers but were not in an official relationship.
