The Sun's Respite
A stone hut stands alone in the barren Wastes of Kiros, three miles away from truly traversable land. It is hastily constructed with obvious cracks and a doorless entrance. There is no ceiling and the floor is just the same as outside: a dirty brown rock sprinkled with sand. A trapdoor in the far corner is the one interesting feature, and the padlock lies next to it.
Lifting it up blasts cool air into the blistering heat and leads to a rough wooden staircase. Going down, a large hall filled with bunk beds is entered, with a strange bar at the end.
Demographics
Everyone is human, but aside from this is more diverse than most places in Kodor. Most human ethnicities, wealth and social classes, and professions can be found here, though the majority of the population is made up of down-and-out men seeking to find one more opportunity at glory; a last resort.
Government
There are some rules set by the owner but they are not particularly enforced and it is more of a community than a government-led settlement.
Defences
There is nothing defending this settlement aside from the weather conditions outside and the simple fact that there is no benefit in attacking it.
Infrastructure
The entire settlement is underground, consisting of little more than a large dormitory and an eating area at the back, complete with a large kitchen.
History
It was established around 200 years ago by two barkeeps from Diros seeking to expand into the unknown world, beyond the Wastes of Kiros. They advertised it as the final stepping stone to wealth and glory that could be found by locating the promised land after traversing the Wastes. It was seen as one final grab for redemption by many failed men and women from across the continent.
Architecture
Wooden beams lie on stone floors to hold up a stone ceiling.
