Varun I Syrincore
King Varun Syrincore (a.k.a. the Usurper)
King Varun I, usually degradingly called the Usurper, was the fifth king of Eremere following his seizure of the throne from his young nephew Adair I. In a palace coup, Varun tried to have all his brother's children slain in an event later called the Raping of the Babes. Only two escaped this fate, those being King Adair and his bastard half-brother Ulfred Ravenwood. Varun continued his tyrannical streak throughout his reign, ruling through fear, coercion, and the careful collection of hostages. He was eventually overthrown by Adair in the Nephews' Revolt and duly executed. While certainly not the least competent of Eremere's monarchs, he is by far the most disdained.
