Entmother

The Entmother is considered the prophet of the Botanical Deities. Born an elf inside the Stansequoia 25 years after the previous Entmother has passed away, the young prophet is traditionally raised by Florarens inside the Tree before she becomes a highly-respected member of the Briarhood of the Botanical Deities.   Usually, the training takes 100 years before the new Entmother emerges into the outside world, meaning that a period of 125 years goes by without an Entmother. Since the Entmother is a beacon of hope and zeal for many people in Kibitann and practically the only mortal with a direct connection to the Deities, these periods are often accompanied by dire times, in which people are frantically looking for a sign or a message from the Deities. When these messages do not come, chaos and civil unrest frequently ensues.

Appointment

Because of the stable time period in which an Entmother replaces the previous one, after 125 years have passed, representatives of the Briarhood are usually waiting outside the Stansequoia when the time is nigh. Upon emerging, these briars take in the new Entmother and escort her to the grand cathedral of the Briarhood in Circana, capital of Budston.   There, she is initiated into the Briarhood and officially appointed the Entmother.

Duties

An Entmother has no choice: She is the only mortal in Kibitann who can receive visions and proclaim prophecies from the Botanical Deities. Because of this, a huge duty rests on her shoulders: Sharing the words of the Deities with the continent of Kibitann.   Since she has been living inside the Stansequoia for so long, she has been imbued with a significant amount of Botaria's power. This means that the Entmother is not just a prophet, but also one of the mightiest protectors of Botaria's world. Several Entmothers have met their end during the two Warring Eras in Blomaria, because they were the trump cards of the Kibitannian forces.

History

1000-1828

In legend, the origin of the Entmother goes back to the Warring Era , in which some of the first elves created by Grovar were taken in by Botaria inside the Stansequoia to receive portions of His power and wisdom, as training for battle.   The first elf that Botaria considered complete was named Stanniel, a reference to the Tree she was raised in. She emerged as the first Entmother in 1392, and her first duty was to rile up the people of Kibitann in the name of Botaria. And that was what she did.   Thanks to her influence, one of the greatest battles fought in the Warring Era was won in favor of the Botanical Deities, in the year 1828. It cost her her life however, and Botaria looked at the other elves inside the Stansequoia. Unfortunately for Him, it took another 125 years for the second Entmother to emerge, her training completed.   Stanniel's being was eventually reclaimed by Botaria, and it is rumor that a similarly named being is now present inside the Stansequoia..

1953-2000

When the Warring Era was almost finished in favor of the Musical Divines, the second Entmother emerged from the Stansequoia. This was Yuthiel, an elf that favored battle over diplomacy. She used her might immediately in a battle against the forces from the Divines that was so fierce, it reshaped the opinion about elves for generations to come.   When the war ended and both pantheons retreated from the mortal coil, Yuthiel was also relieved of her duties. She ended up inside the Stansequoia once more, and 25 years later she bared a child inside the Tree's area. She died afterwards, and became a symbol in the Blomarian night sky. Known forever as the Zealot, a constellation that embodies righteous fury and dedication to the gods.   Her child became the next Entmother, after 100 years of training. This is how the cycle of 125 years truly came to be.
