Fallobe
Town of combat
Fallobe is probably known for two things: Its former love for war, and its current love for combat. Fallobe's long history of battle has left a long lasting memory in the minds of the current inhabitants, shaping their culture to the combat-focused place it is today. But it is not at all in an hostile way. It is actually more of a sport nowadays, and people gladly come from afar to hone their combat skills in a place whose main aim is to hone just that. Finances, Infrastructure, Government, almost everything in Fallobe is shaped around or built with combat in mind.Demographics
The town is mostly inhabited by dwarves, with a few halflings and gnomes inbetween them. Influence from the Faestir Dragon Clan makes them tolerate a bunch of bronze Dragonborns in their midst, who above all else fire up the heat.
Government
Fallobe is a settlement that is beset by dwarves, but their leaders are surprisingly not. A council of seemingly simple halflings run court, but this is not by mistake or democratic coincidence. For the conflict between dwarves and elves ran so high, any leader of Saldalin or Fallobe that was Elven and Dwarven respectively would wage open war if they so desired. So they installed leaders of less represented races, so the politics of their settlements would be bereft of any emotional disruption.
In the case of Fallobe, Halflings had just the right amount of do-goodery in them to refrain from needlessly causing conflict with Saldalin. An enforcing council of Faestir Dragonborns bring the necessary zap of force into their decisions, so Fallobe will not stop developing.
Defences
As expected, Dwarves have fortified Fallobe immensely in the past. Walls, towers and outposts stand firmly throughout the edge of town to remind everyone of the fierce history of war that Fallobe was known for. Even now with a more peaceful government, the residents of Fallobe know that their love for combat is not just for sport, but the grim remains of their ancestor's professionalism.
Industry & Trade
A town previously well known for their mining of several ore and jewels, they usually spent it on their war with Saldalin. It's how the economy ran. But now, Fallobe's mining industry is now more focused on export, and the rest of the economy relies on the sport of combat. Smiths forge weapons to sell, and many events happen on a large scale. From small bets and organized tavern brawls, to the large and wildly popular arena fights, with the yearly highlight of The Stone Mettle drawing in many tourists and income.
Infrastructure
With an history of war, the dwarves of olden days have constructed Fallobe's infrastructure with their goal being combat efficiency. The roads all in some way lead outwards to the east, pointing to the Saldalin mountains separating them and Saldalin. In the peaceful age afterwards, Fallobe began concentrating on the more positive aspect of combat, and the streets are wide and spacious, allowing for friendly skirmishes to form and dissipate without much delay.
Assets
This part of the Saldalin Mountains focuses less on magic and more on combat, and their shops are basically bereft of any magic goods. Fallobe does not rely on magic healing to mend their wounds, but the raw survival instinct and experience with medicine. Fallobe does not rely on evocation magic to crash their opposing forces, but uses axe and hammer.
Guilds and Factions
The largest faction in Fallobe is the Lobecutter Clan, the biggest clan of dwarves in Loebnaeturie and by far the eldest in Fallobe. They have always focused on the art of war, and many of their family can be described as poetic to some degree.
As for guilds, the Wyrm Guild has a strong presence in Fallobe, bringing many wares and exporting the ores the Fallobens mine. It also brings a fair bit of Draconic influence into the town.
History
Saldalin-Falloben Diplomacy
Fallobe has not existed until far into the Second Warring Era. The place where the town would be founded was actually a dwarven outpost, dating back far into the Era of Peace. But when the Second Warring Era rolled around and the tension between many races in the Oakenlands soared, many dwarves, under the leadership of the Lobecutter Clan, decided to expand the outpost since it had the best strategic position against the elves of Saldalin. There was an era of long tension between the elves and dwarves, and it finally came to a confrontation in the year 5211, when a group of Saldalin messengers was slaughtered by Falloben Dwarves after they came too close to the outpost without any sign that they were peaceful messengers. The war between the dwarves and elves has started.
In the year of 5226, the outpost of Fallobe was officially declared a dwarven settlement. Dwarven blacksmiths, medics and other people with combat-related occupations settled in Fallobe to provide their services and have a stable home base.
The war between the Saldalin Elves and the Falloben Dwarves lasted well until 5311, due to frequent battles causing a war of attrition, and tension has risen and fallen for the following few centuries. Only in the year 6030 did they finally settle for peace, and both groups set in motion a change in mentality for their respective towns. No longer interfering with each other, and making sure their politics wouldn't compromise each other.
