Damselfly

Damselfly

Damselfly is an unidentified insect-like creature with strange tattered wings and antennae. They injured their wings falling from their homeland into Virkhagen, and since have not been able to return. They miss their home and family deeply, but they're curious about this new world they've stumbled into.

Physical Description

Body Features

They have six limbs: four arms and two legs (or six legs depending on how they're walking).

Facial Features

They have solid black scleras and no irises or pupil. Also, their mouth is insectile.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Damselfly's greatest desire is to return to their home land. They decorate their surroundings with flora and architecture that remind them of such, and love combining that style with Virkhagen's.

An inchling that fell from above into Virkhagen, Damselfly is nothing if not curious. Although they're working hard to get back home, they plan to learn as much as they can in the meantime.

A Strange Festival

I think I made a pretty good "house," considering I've never seen one til now. It's tucked into a hill, like a burrow, but the artistry reflects Virkhagen far more than the place I called home. I finally got settled in.   So, of course, I scouted. I wanted to see what this world had to offer, so I crawled far and wide and eventually found a lively settlement. A festival, from what the people there told me. We had great fun together smashing windows with bricks and engaging in lots of other games and mingling.   I must admit I kept to myself for the most part. It was far easier to hide in bushes and eavesdrop than it was to explain my story to these strangers, although I did say hello to one or two of them.   We were all called to a meeting place to properly introduce the festival, if I interpret correctly, and the people there did just that. However. I'm going to reach as far as to say that this wasn't supposed to happen; another rushed to the podium and proclaimed grave news. The queen of Virkhagen had died.   I'm torn between wanting to mind my own business and the curiosity that pulls at me. Who killed the queen? Who had this queen been anyway? I would have very much liked to meet her had I known of her existence before her death.

The World Below

It all happened so quickly. First, a bright light -- the sun in my eyes -- then a deep tearing. There's nothing that turns the stomach more than hearing a part of your own body tear like that. And after that? Free fall. Open space. Everything I knew shrank into the distance until it was indistinguishable from the stars above, and then the Above was lost to me.   When the fall finally stopped, I was in a flurry of white. White...something. I stood on the alien landscape and looked out on the swathe of blank ground and matching flecks floating lazily downwards from the sky. Buildings rose around me, but not like the ones I knew. Strange, unconventional architecture. The firelight glowed in the windows all the same.   Virkhagen. I've made this alien world my home, for now. I tried to move into one of the available residences, but the large drafty corridors didn't suit me. I've made a proper burrow, borrowing from the styles of the buildings around me. I think it fits in just fine.   The only question is: how long until I can get back home?
