Artillery carts

What happens when you attach a heavy ballista bow on wheels behind a heerus? Well, you guessed it, a very scary weapon. They did it in 162.II. In the Service's fouth army, aetery teams have worked with artillery teams to design new weapons of war.   To make a siege weapon mobile, they designed a strong and light carriage, which can be harnessed to either a heerus or a hooma. The carriage is protected on its flanks with ceramic platings; thus, the gunners are protected from arrows and hits. The ballista is detachable for better adaptability, of course. With three persons (a coachman and two loaders), the carriage is light enough to be towed at a good speed by the heaver.   This weapon has been used as a quickly deployable support weapon, on the flanks or as a siege weapon. However, it is a tad bit harder to be precise with each shot when the carriage is moving... Some would even say nearly impossoble... But it's not supposed to shoot while moving, and in any way, the terror effect of seeing a number of these death machines shooting and charging sure is effective against ennemy's moral.   In the late stages of the last war, artillery carts have been put to a lot of use to try and repel magissen actions, trying to cover great distances to protect cities and villages. But with the shortage of defensive ballistas for cities, mobile units were not enough to provide efficient field protection, and many people's lives were lost to the Magissen. With the end of the war, artillery carts almost disappeared from not being deemed useful anymore, however in recent military showdowns those machines tend to make a comeback as an infantry support in small expeditions and skirmishes.
