The forgotten war (36.I - 37.I)
There is a war few of us have ever heard of. Yet it has shaped our world for good.
Now, many of us know of the second magissal war, which saw our ancestors conquer a good part of the southeastt. We all know how it started, who started it and how it ended. But after 33 years of conflicts, how can a war end so quickly? It's the year 36.I and most Magissens have left the eastern golden sea for humans to colonize.
But not all magissen birds are happy about this. As a whole generation of birds has grown during the war, and are forced by their own clans to leave their lands, a generation schism takes place in the kasiik societies. A strong sense of betrayal grows in young minds, and many bird teenagers decide to leave their homes, and rally around a powerful bird.
This figure, whose name has long been forgotten in our books, may have had up to two thousands young followers at its peak. Enough powerful magicians to threaten any human army at that time. Facing a returning threat, human colonists begin to fear the new bird army, as it is mentioned in a series of books in the kalendic archives of ✝ Berneem. Human armies have been disbanded, and the capital's power is way too far to protect its settlers, so they try something unthinkable at the end of the war: Berneem's lords ask directly to the recently defeated kasiik to act, and protect human people from their own kin, while the armies of Berneem are dispatched. And surprisingly, rather than opposing humans and supporting their children, most magissen make it clear that they will oppose them. What were their motives? Perhaps they saw it as a way to be rewarded some land back, or perhaps these young, reckless fighters threatened to restart a costly war, in any way, they took action, and went to fight the traitor's army in the humans' stead. Having a human-kasiik cooperation so soon after the war would be a symbol of potential reconcilement, which would help create new ties of mutual aid. As thanks to their actions and as retribution, the human empire gave back the whole region of the kivando delta in the south. Since it was the most lush and fertile area of the Golden Sea, it was happily welcomed by the Magissen. And after all these events, started a global truce which lasted for more than 1500 years, only to be torn to shreds by the Third Magissal war .
