Battle-Birds
Hjapic: Öhlogg /œːl̥ɔkː/
Battle-Birds is one of the most popular superhero comic book series in Örkraz and the most widely known outside that continent. Created seventeen years ago by Zohnó, an úrzrani living in Agg-Ahlún, and currently published by Crystal Comics, the series is centered on a team of heroes associated with different parrots, fruit doves and birds-of-paradise native to Örkraz, who use powers granted by spirits of their ancestors to fight mortal villains and supernatural beings alike.
Initially centered on a fictional country in western Örkraz, the setting has since expanded to include various other places loosely based on real-life cities and regions of the continent, featuring beings and characters inspired by local myths and legends.
While the Battle-Birds comics are enjoyed by some people in other parts of Borgalor, the more recent animated series has proven immensely popular, particularly in eastern and southern Jælondis, especially Narúrt. More modestly successful are a handful of 2D platformer- and fighting game adaptations, which are relatively obscure outside southern and western Örkraz, and Hmarg.
Despite its popularity, Battle-Birds has been the source of controversy in certain countries, particularly the animated series due to certain elements, most importantly the frequent summoning of ancestral spirits, as Necromancy has been a taboo subject in human many cultures since the Fell Wars. This has lead to the series being censored to some extent in Númra, Orgoll and Þagralía, and outright banned in East Jekralon and Hynra.
