Gjóm Highlands
Gjúmic: Gjóm /coːm/ (informal), Úngjóm /uːncouːm/ (formal)
Hjapic: Hleggek-ó /l̥ɛkːɛkh ouː/
Kahlóic: Hninirr /n̥ɪːnɪːrː/
The Gjóm Highlands1 dominate the landscape of central and mideastern Örkraz and are the second highest on that continent, appearing as mere hills compared to the separate Hnahlam Mountains to the north. The fertile river valleys, pastures, rain- and cloud forests in the region gave rise to the first civilizations of the Orcs long ago, and millennia later the mountains are a densely populated home to ancient cities and even older ruins, sanctuaries, forts and terraced fields, connected to each other as well as the lowlands by a vast network of winding roads and bridges.
Today, the most powerful countries in the Gjóm Mountains are the republics of East Nont and West Nont.

Fauna & Flora
The wildlife in the Gjóm Mountains is some of the most diverse in Örkraz and Borgalor in general, even with the region being as densely populated and cultivated as it is, and it's not uncommon for species to be endemic to a single mountain. Domesticated fauna and flora such as Palm Fowl, Land Crocodiles, sugarcane, tree ferns, fruits, nuts and vegetables of all sorts are common in and near settlements.
