Great Crystal Fountains

The great crystal fountains of Brackenport are truely a wonder to behold. The basin of each of these fountains is made from glass. The decoration on the plinth and the number and design of the tiers of each fountain varies. The water for the fountains is pumped in from the great river and drains out to the mirrored sea. Anyone who calls Brackenport home will offer tribute to the fountains, in the form of coins, trinkets, or even cool rocks, anything that may hold value to the one tossing the object into the fountain. Parents often teach their children to toss in flowers, coppers, or small toys carved from cork that bob happily in the water. Far from being standardized, each crystal fountain has its own charm, which draws a variety of keepers (often members of The Horned Guard) who maintain the fountains and empty them when they get too full with glittering treasures which are then invested into the city of Brackenport itself.

Fountains of Note

The Lady and The Beast

These paired fountains flanking the entrance to the The Museum of World Wonders have basins 40ft in diameter. On a stone plinth 10 feet tall in the center of one of the fountains stands a slender figure dressed in a large robe, the hood drawn up to keep the face in shadow. The stone carved face has angular features, clearly inspired by a striking elven woman, with eyes that glow with a faint violet light, which is clearly a magical effect. Water from this fountain flows from the top of the figures head, and over the stone which gives the figure a shimmering, silver appearance. In one hand the figure holds a staff, topped with a purple crystal which also glows faintly. In the other outstreached hand, she holds a wand, pointed outward, her palm facing upward. From the tip of the wand, water sprays with a glittering violet light, also clearly a magical illusionary effect.
The other fountain has a plinth only 5 feet tall, but much wider than the first. Upon this plinth stands a huge stone beast, which the hindquarters of a horse, with a maginificent tail, the forelimbs of a bear, one paw outstretched in offering, the face, head and mane of a lion with long fangs, two pairs of horns, one curled like a rams, the other pair swept forward like a bulls, and the wings of an eagle, from which water sprays from the tip of each feather creating a curtain of water stretching out from the imposing figure. The statues of each of these figures are carved such that the pair are at eye level with each other and are able to forever meet each others' gaze.

The People's Fountain

Found in the gardens and maintained by The Museum of World Wonders. Meant to commemorate the people of Brackenport themselves, this fountain has a 50ft diameter basin and has a 2ft tall 5ft diameter dias at its center. Standing at the center of the dais is a stone figure of a young half-elvan woman holding a bouquet of bronze ferns, barefoot and dressed in a simple, flowing dress. Water from this fountain flows from the edge of the dais and out into the shallow basin. The floor of the basin of the fountain is decorated with a mosiac depicting the many different types of peoples that live in Brackenport.

Seaside Plaza Fountain

Towering over the Seaside Plaza is one of the tallest fountains in Brackenport. It features a tall central pillar wreathed in flames of glass, with hundreds of small figures in and around the basin surrounding it directing streams of water onto the central pillar. Built by the artists of New Town at the request of Etrigan Sparrow after the disastrous fire that cleared the land where the Seaside Plaza now stands, this fountain stands as a memorial to the buildings lost in the fire.
