Cyning Hengest of Kent

Cyning Hengest ͏͏͏͏

Hengest was a warlord and the king of the Jutish Saxons. Alongside his brother Horsa, he controversially allied with High King Vortigern to fight the Irish and the Picts, and was granted the kingdom of Kent.   As Hengest hailed from Jutland, he was a Jute and not technically a Saxon at all; the term Saxon is used colloquially.   He betrayed Vortigern at Stonehenge during an attack called The Night of the Long Knives, killing most British nobility and taking control of Britain.   He was the father of Æsc, Octa, and Vortigern's second wife Rowena.
