Douar Demnati (do-WAHR dem-NAH-tee)
A large scale outdoor celebration celebrated in The Black Steppes when it rains.
History
Because of the utterly inhospitable nature of the Black Steppes, being the hottest and driest place in all of Callisto, rain is an extremely rare occurrence. Douar Demnati, the rain festival, is an ancient tradition. It was believed that rain was a divine reward for the people living in the Black Steppes either doing good deeds, or worshiping well.
In historical versions of the celebration, before more modern techniques of predicting weather, the celebration could be extremely sudden as the celebration would start when the rain began. The rain could be completely unexpected and the citizens of the Black Steppes would still run out into the rain to celebrate. Now with new technology allowing for more accurate weather prediction, the festivals can be planned out in advance.
Components and tools
Decorations and clothing with washout dye are common decorations, and observing the dye running from the rainwater is part of the tradition.
