Exeton's Gambit

Summary

Before Taeora's deal with Exeton magic was free and unrestricted by material cost. This myth is the story that is taught which explains why some magic requires the price of material components. Taeora believed that there was nothing that could outdo magic, and Exeton made a deal with them, to show them that mortal kind was ingenious and inventive enough to perform feats that magic could do, without magic. The price of the bargain was the material cost of magic we know today, as Exeton believed that the free use of magic, especially those magics that require currency, had too great an implication on the natural development of the civilization that they loved so dearly.
