He was a merchant with ties to the military. While most of the time he and his crew would deliver rum to various ports, sometimes he would transport soldiers and/or military equipment. He was on a rum delivery when he met Morgan Stagg. Not realizing that his ship and food had been touched by a Ghost, he agreed to take her back to her home.
Once his ship, Shadow Horizon was a Ghost Ship, he and his crew were locked in to getting her home but never succeeding.
