Personal history
She was born a princess in the Cubria Empire but she was born with a misshaped spine. This made her too ugly to be a princess in the eyes of her parents and doctors. She was given to a nursemaid to dispose of, except this nursemaid, Anneke slipped away with her and took her to Nasomar, where she was raised in the Isisianism religion.
She never knew her biological parents and Anneke didn't say much about them. Helene was treated no different than any of the biological children Anneke had. But as she grew, the condition of her spine worsened because she has Fray Drift, eventually it attacked her mind until she had a hard time remembering anything.
At the end of her life as she reads from her own diaries, she remembers what Anneke taught her. When she dies, she returns to being Apophis.
