The final written account of the last efforts of Xendal Vedakrhi as discovered by the members of the original group tasked with the fourth utterance of the Somnambulistic Prophecy in 215 PR

Purpose

These are the final written words of one of the primary conspirators that brought about the Blight through deft manipulations of Sovereign Daimus III . After surviving the ordeal barely, mostly due to his undead nature, the arch mage stumbled his way into the settlement of Caster's Folly where he attempted to use the survivors of the sunken hamlet as unwitting sacrifices to empower his own ascension into a near godlike state. The efforts failed however and left the mage and the remaining inhabitants of that place dead and trapped beneath the stone that had devoured their home.

The Last Words of Xendal Vedakrhi of the Aberrant Flame

The fools seem to think I am their salvation. It has been nearly a month since the black took the world and this location sank into the depths. More than two thirds of the town died in that moment, and it is impossible to continue to act as if I care any longer. My wounds from the ritual are fatal, even in this form which leaves me no choice but to escalate my plans for ascension. The change requires a sacrifice...a great sacrifice. As if most of the world wasn’t enough, but that is neither here nor there. That twit Burgomeister has agreed to let me take what is left of these simple, pitiful lives and use them for my higher purpose. If I cannot ascend into deific power, then the world is lost and our blunder is for nothing. The world will remember me as one of the vilest villains ever to walk Cairne...but they will never understand why. We did this to subjugate the only remaining obstacle in the way of real progress...we almost united the entire world under one flag...no more wars, no more hording of wealth or starvation. One world united and working in unison for the greater good. I damned my soul as a sacrifice to this end! Now as if to mock me, the gods themselves have abandoned us! We had their blessing and yet they slink off into the safety of the outer realms like rats from a sinking ship and leave us, their charges to flounder in the wastes left behind. I will place my head upon the crown they left and serve the betterment of all Cairne from atop it, for no king or queen can do what I can, no leader has my vision or power! I shall rule from the seat of the spirit, and damn the regality and divinity to the pits they left us in. I shed the last of my dying form for the sake of the world. Tonight, I shall call upon the hook horrors that languish in the nearby caverns. Tonight, there shall be blood and glorious sacrifice and I shall become the god this lands needs and deserves. I shall become, Xendal, Master of Cairne!
