The Push for Reclamation

Weary and frustrated by merely holding the line against the subterranean horrors that mingle with the darkness of the lost kingdom of Underhome, Low Commander Jules Argaelast and the War Council decide to make a hard push into the dark territories in an attempt to push back and reclaim much needed resources and important cultural points.

Years had passed since the retaking of Grundhome , and while that victory was a huge win for the Fouvienians , it was still a mere toehold in their once vast kingdom. Holding the small bit of home that remained was becoming costly in resources, lives, and the well being of his people, the constant struggle to hold their borders and defend their people was weighing heavily upon all them. While the individual Fouvienian War Chiefs were efficient and granting a great deal of aid to the survival and long term goals of the dwarves, it was never enough. Jules Argaelast had grown impatient and the weight of the losses that seemed to be overtaking their growth was too much to bear. In a closed gathering of the war chiefs, he began to devise a plan to push back, and to mount a full offensive to retake high value targets from the Blight Born invaders. While simple in design, there was an elegance in the proposed implementation. Up until this point, each of the War Chiefs had acted independently of the others, each fulfilling their purpose with tremendous effort and success, but with this new plan, the idea was to use their knowledge and advantage of familiar ground to push in, cut off and destroy small pockets of the shadowed infestation that had crawled its way through their home. The Low Commander set the goal of the The Halls of Black Fire as the end goal for the reclamation, and they began.   Utilizing a small team of forward scouts led by Gauge Rhinehorn  as an advance reconnaissance unit to assess the threat in each location, they could then lead The Fire Ragers into the heart of an infested region with the knowledge of what to expect there. The Ragers would push the enemy into the waiting phalanx of the Aegis of the Deep and pinch them in a closing assault of fire and shield and spear. The offensive, while expensive seemed to be successful. Slowly the dwarves began to take back small bits of land and hold them, but numbers were not on their side, and as they began to move further and further from Grundhome , they became harder and harder to resupply and offer medical care to. As both morale and effectiveness began to dwindle, word was sent out to their Hiverstead allies who responded to the call with a regiment of five hundred of The Stonebridge Fusiliers , reinforcing the Fire Ragers and joined by Vynna Ebonrue and a small complement of Benevolents from Mercy's Hand . Bolstered by this, the push found a renewed purpose and drove even harder.   This offensive is still ongoing, the distance beneath the ground from Grundhome to the Halls of Black Fire being hundreds of miles distant.
