Oldtown

The Isolated Settlement

Oldtown or "Greyton" as it was once called is by it's namesake the oldest town in the kingdom, It is home to only to a humble population and the occasional traveller here and there. Most of the populace are old men and women and a few dozen children - Those who reach their teenage years are sent into the forest in a traditional trial of survival. This lead to travellers choosing not to linger too long as word of barbaric practices spread across Avellonis - Keeping this town in a stagnated low population.

Founding

The village was founded sometime before the Age of Unification when King Avellonis decided that in order to bring the tribes closer together he'd have a village built on the crossroads between the True Blade and the former Oakseer tribe settlements. Here both factions who previously feuded with each other built a settlement that would forge a bond lasting lifetimes.

Structure

The village was small and though most of the houses were rebuilt with stone many of them still stand with their ancient foundations. A tower used for spotting distant threats lies in the middle of the square looming over the village although now unused, covered in thorns and moss it comes as a reminder as to the village's true purpose.

The Vigil

Years after the Unification unknown to those outside of the village a secret and solemn vow was entrusted by the king and handed down to village chief to village mayor, Over the ages wherein a society built by the King himself was to be kept hidden away through the paths of the village into the dense forests called The Vigil. This military organisation was formed by The Vigilants of Old and was meant to serve as a defence against threats including that of the King himself if he ever put the land at risk of annihilation, Even after the destruction of Fort Vigilance during the Age of Division, It was later restored with the help of the villagers and The Vigil's newfound leadership.
