The Forbidden Wilds
Steelwater forest is located just north on the opposite side of The Spine, It's been long unexplored due to the rumours of dangerous creatures that inhabit the dense intertwining roots that litter the landscape, The entrance to the forest seems like a warning to outsiders not to enter with it's tall oak trees forming a wall of wood and their arms interlocking together as if part of one whole.
The Tribe
According to the lore scribes of Rainegate these forests used to be inhabited by the Steelwater Tribe of the old realm though not much is known about them apart from the very brief encounters by
King Avellonis and his companions during their travels as
The Vigilants of Old. It was said that their was another attempt to bring the tribe into the Kingdom of Avellonis after the unification but all that was found was empty lodgings and the sounds of the forest. It is now clearly named after the Steelwater Tribe as a reminder of what could have been another
Human settlement that prospered alongside the Kingdom.
Myths and Rumours
Many years have passed since a proper expedition was sent out to uncover the secrets of this untamed land and those who were adventurous enough to go in without proper training were never seen again - This lead to an amount of myths and rumours surrounding the old forests about dark creatures and living trees. The Crown eventually had to put a stop to the high amount of curious people that go missing and a decree was put in place to block off the path into the forest and forbid anyone from setting foot beyond it's border. This however only lead to expeditions over the mountains where the canopy of the forest carpeting the whole landscape with leaves and bush for miles around and only hindered the footpath entrance alone.
