Tocia

Tocia was founded about 600 years ago by 20 families originally from Caesion. Tocia was basically an agricultural economy. However, over the first century the population of Tocia increased thru the intermarriage of those families and a small number of families with skills the farmers did not have such as; a baker, blacksmith, brewer, butcher, carpenter, glassblower, leatherworker, textile and a vintner. Tocia has since become a major center for guilds and those with an artistic bent.

Tocia currently has a population of about 10,000 plus with an additional 2,500 of a transient nature at any one time.

A breakdown of its population appears as follows: 90% Human, of which 55% are children under the age of 15. 10% dwarven, elven, gnomish and halfling of which only 5% are children by designation.

Tocia is situated such that all agriculture and most artisan workplaces and homes lie outside the town limits. Therefore, the town proper is made up of enough inns and buildings that those on the outskirts of town and flood into town during emergencies. That portion of the town has a wooden palisade that is being replaced with stone walls with outward facing ditches to slow down attackers. In addition, this town is under the protection of the president of Marganation.

Gunter Glasblaser who developed leaded glass for fine glassware and colored glass used in churches and other special places.

Geography

Tocia is a town located in Marganation where it lies about 150 miles north of the city of Caesion to which it is connected by the Caesion Way. In addition, Tocia sits astride the Caesion River flowing south from the northern most areas of the Central Mountains through Tocia, allowing for trade to flow, south to Caesion by boat. The Caesion Way is now being paved east to Diolius, about 50, the next town east.

Tocia is ideal because, in addition to the river, it is surrounded by fertile plains capable of sustaining many crops and livestock. A day’s ride to the west lie the foothills of the Central Mountains while half a day’s ride to the east lie the foothills of the Mountains of the Eastern Wall.

The trail heading north from Tocia leads to the Abbey of Esaca well known for its renowned wine.

Natural Resources

Tocia does a fair amount of trade in freshwater fish, lamb and goat. In addition, it does has quarries for the production of granite and marble.
