Clockwork

Finally, the key would turn no longer; the mainspring was as taught as it would go. "Here goes nothing," he gently said under his breath as he removed the key from its housing. The inner workings of the machine started to whir and he could hear the teeth of the cogs interlock and gently grind past each other. His face lit up as the realisation hit him that he had created his very own self-moving wagon. He let out a loud "WHOOP!" that echoed throughout the dimly lit cavern and the cart drove itself forward, stopping about twelve feet in front of him.

Utility

Clockwork has many applications. It is primarily being developed to automate mundane tasks, such as striking flint, opening gates, moving people up and down tall structures as examples, but Greylock also continues to push the technology to see what he can create, thus the Lighthouse at Lantana and the Airship.   He is secretly continuing to expand on his first invention, the self-driving cart, and hopes to have a cart that will travel for a day without needing to be wound again. He is currently working on an automated winding system, that removes the need for interaction to start the vehicle propelling itself.

Manufacturing

The Greylock Company operates out of Yarrin. They reverse-engineered dwarven technologies that had been discovered in Then Dorahl. Mainsprings, cogs, wheels, sprockets and pinions, springs and oscillators are the main components of clockwork and are all manufactured in Yarrin at the the Greylock Manufactory.   Schematics are drawn up by Orryn Greylock and then assembled by his team on tinkerers. The Manufactory employs skills tinkerers from a range of backgrounds, though it is very difficult to get a job there due to Greylock's strict background checks.
Inventor(s)
Orryn Greylock is the founder of The Greylock Company and the Greylock Manufactory.
Access & Availability
Clockwork is a reasonably new technology and so access is limited to enthusiasts and the elite. There is public access to view the technologies at work in Lantana at the Lighthouse and is also employed in the Airship.
Discovery
Orryn Greylock undertook an expedition to Then Dorahl after hearing rumours of self-moving dwarven technology. Once there, he spent a year studying the various inventions and taking them apart to understand how they work. He took detailed notes as he pulled apart each invention, and started to notice patterns in the designs. Using the pieces of technologies that he had already pulled apart, he designed and built a small wagon, about 1ft x 2ft in side, that would propel itself. The vehicle travelled much slower than he could walk and would only travel about 10 feet before it needed to be wound again.
