A group of radicals takes over a chunk of land protected by mountain ranges. They cast some form of magic over the land blacking out the sun over Glawveria for decades. And becoming the first vampires.

The black clouds from their ritual spread over the continent blocking the sun for decades in this time they over throw the local authorities and found the Ostoyan empire. With a emperor and a council all becoming the first vampires. They become enemies of the faithful of Anu for denying his light. The founding of their new empire became a bloody one with multiple crusades being launched to bring them to heel.   Eventually the black clouds rolled back and only covered The ostoyan empire.
