Astrid was born in Memnon to a mother who died giving birth to her and never knew her father. She grew up in the streets and learned how to survive. When she was 18 she had enough of living day to day and set out to change her stars.
She moved to Dace and got a job as a barmaid at a local tavern called the Rotten Stump. After working some time at the tavern she met a local boy named Sigurd and fell in love. Through her charm and guile she was able to get the boy a job as a bouncer at the bar.
During her time working as a barmaid she made many new friends, and was introduced in the secret underground of the Black Market becoming a go between for the Cloaked man the elusive organizer of the Black Market in Dace.
After several years of working undercover as Astrid Saldean at the Rotten Stump Vanessa's plans came to fruitition. Having framed her lover for most of the problems currently plagueing Dace, Vanessa dissapeared and her current whereabouts are unknown.
