The Cosmic Flame
The Cosmic Flame is a phenomenon that is said to have been used by the first gods to create the planes of existence. It is said to be the source of all life and vitality and the birthplace of all souls both great and small. The Flame of Creation is believed to exist at the center of the universe, somewhere within the Astral Sea, but whether this is true is only known to the gods or other beings who may have hazarded a look at it and survived. It is said that the power of the Flame is so great that even the gods cannot withstand its power for long. It is believed that the god of creation, Nabashakh the Forge-father, is the only god capable of withstanding the Flame as he uses a fragment from it to fuel the creation forges of his own plane, Nidavellir.
The truth of the Flame, Imperishable is not fully understood by mortals. Others believe it is the remnants of a god older than even the Elder Gods and its power persists eternally. Others still believe that it is a structure upon which the many worlds of the universe rest, like a great tree with limbs stretched out to each plane of existence. Some even believe that it is a god itself, greater than others yet long silent.

Manifestation
Manifestations of a central axis to the universe appear in many beliefs. Most namely is the belief of the Dwarves who see it as a "secret fire" of creation that burns and fuels the forges of their god, and the Nords belief in Yggdrasil, the World Tree, which holds the worlds of the universe upon its branches and has existed since before creation.
Localization
Most interpretations of the various forms of the Cosmic Fire determine it is somewhere within the Astral Sea, as somewhere within it is believe to be the center of creation itself. Other beliefs have it existing in the Mortal Plane as some believe that the Mortal Planes make up the center of the universe.
