Naming Traditions
Feminine names
Galad names tend to have much looser boundaries when it comes to when a name is considered more feminine or masculine. For the most part, names are interchangeable, but there are certain trends that are more gendered than others. For instance, variations of names that end in "-wen" and "-wyn" are usually feminine versions of more masculine names.
Masculine names
Again, names are interchangeable between genders for the most part, but there are a few trends that are seen as more masculine. Names that end in "i" and then a consonants like "-ic" and "-in" are seen as more masculine alongside names that end in "o" followed by a consonant like "-oc" or "og."
Unisex names
Names are generally quite unisex, and even when a more masculine or feminine name is used with the opposite gender without a masculine or feminine ending added onto it, it will not turn many heads.
Family names
Galad family names are quite simple, and almost always are based on the first names of ancestors or some feature of their families craft.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
The classic ideals that have flourished in recent years have greatly affected beauty ideals, taking the most appealing elements of elegant dress and presentation from the kingdom's past and applying them in more minimal and modern ways. This means that sharp dress--rich colours, intricate designs, many adornments--has taken the forefront of beauty. This goes along with an emphasis on very carefully styled hair and facial hair. Another look that has come to be seen as generally attractive is a man or woman in armour, due to the general interest in a romanticized depiction of Invention knights.
Courtship Ideals
Courtship is another area of Galad life that has been hit hard by the cultural renaissance. The most romantic and charming of old courtship traditions have been picked from the past and have now grown and evolved as they are practiced and written about in modern times. Elaborate expressions of admiration like hiring bards to play beneath a lover's windowsill or sending a bouquet of a hundred roses has become almost comically common place, while more subtle formal courtship techniques like flower language and mask etiquette have become widely observed while formally at court.
Relationship Ideals
While courtship has been hit hard with the renaissance, actual relationship ideals have not changed much. Once the rush of infatuation has worn off and a couple no longer needs such lavish expressions of affection, classical relationship ideals and roles are not usually observed. There is still an expectation that a couple should very publicly be in love with one another, making public displays of affection far more common in Galad streets than most other places.
