Crimson Bay
Surrounded by sandbars and coral reefs, Crimson Bay is an island that appears only in the most vague of senses on nautical maps. Navigating the maze surrounding the island is challenging enough to keep the Navies of all surrounding countries away from the area, making it the ideal stop for pirates needing to restock their supplies and take some shore leave.
Geography
The land is mostly flat, surrounded by beach and sporting one river that flows from an underground spring. Any change in altitude is masked by the dense trees further inland, but one hill remains bare and provides a lovely panoramic view of the surrounding waters of the Zetian Sea.
Fauna & Flora
Due to its size, the only native animals are rather small. Birds make up the vast majority, followed by rodents and small monkeys. It is common for pirates to leave their pets behind here, thus resulting in a stray crocodile, anaconda, or some other such larger animal. There is also a fair-sized population of snakes, thanks in part to a local witch.
The trees here are extensively tropical. Coconut trees grow on the leeward side of the island, and bananas are cultivated by the local ex-pirates. Further inland is essentially a sparse jungle, littered with exposed roots ready to trip anyone not paying enough attention. Moss grows here in abundance, and grass is mostly contained to sunny patches that have had trees cleared from it for whatever reason.

Natural Resources
Crimson Bay does not produce any natural resources in great excess. The only thing its inhabitants can exploit in any way are the abundance of seashells and pieces of coral that wash up on the North side of the island. Those that live there will make jewelry from these resources and sell them to passing pirates who in turn sell them at markets in larger countries.
