Othrifrus
I loved to go to the dry ground just out of sight of the village. The grove is there, watched by Mrs. Iniatis and her cubs. Right after the rainy season is my favourite because it's like all the trees were turned to gold. And even after that, there's a wonderful golden carpet of petals and I felt like the richest girl in the world when I glided over them. I'd go there in the early evening and play my lyre because, for just a little while, it felt like that was all there was in the world; me, my music, and the trees.
Basic Information
Biological Traits
Othrifrus is a sprawling sort of tree with a wide trunk and clusters of waxy leaves along its branches. It has flaky, jagged bark similar to that of a pine and the outer layers of wood are dark, though newer layers have an almost golden hue. After it rains, the tree is covered in tiny yellow flowers that completely obscure the branches and attract bees in great numbers, so much so that the trees themselves seem to buzz. Over the course of several weeks, the flowers will fall off and coat the ground below.
