Yv’sil
Originally, Yv’sil was spoken by the natives of Yvesland and was a language comprised of long, difficult to pronounce words. However, as emigrants began settling at Yevesland’s coast, it began to evolve, picking up stray words from other languages, though it remained fairly unchanged, as most of the newcomers to the country were happy to assimilate as best they could. As time has progressed, many words have become shortened, though they remain as difficult as ever to pronounce.
Yv’sil, surprisingly is not particularly difficult to learn, owing partially to the way the language has evolved, and partially because in most cases, one can scribble down the closest Skilytr, or go through similar words until the other person understands what they mean.
Writing System
Phonetically, Yv’sil contains many repeating letters, which are pronounced differently dependent on the context of the word they’re written in. Yv’sil’s actual alphabet consists of about 50 different, sharp edged ‘words’, called Skilytr, which then can be overlaid on top of each other to create other words.
Geographical Distribution
Spoken mostly in Yevesland and further north, though many Luminese near the Yevesland border pick up some understanding of the language.
