Anquan-class Shoreskipper

Designed in the late 30s, in response to the beginning of the Khillish Civil War, the Anquan-Class Shoreskipper is a beast of naval combat. The double-hulled catamaran strikes an imposing silhouette, and its top-of-the-line weapons outfit is known to singlehandedly down 3-4 loyalist vessels during a battle.   The complex building process results in a long construction and repair time mean the few operational Anquan-class vessels are rarely seen, with Military-refit Hemland-Class Skippers still used for most excursions.  Their spacious interior and hefty cargo capacity make them excellent vessels for long scouting missions, with crew sometimes remaining on board for months at a time.

Crew

The Anquan-class typically carries a crew compliment of 31-37. For details on rank assignments and meaning, see NSC Rank Designations

Officers

Captain: Captain of the ship. When in battles, often a commodore will use an Anquan-class as a flagship, and will replace the captain.   First officer: Commander-rank, responsible for command when the captain is unavailable, and also as the communications officer.   Weaponsmaster: Commander-rank, responsible for tactical operations and maintenance.   Quartermaster: Usually chief-rank, responsible for food, supplies, and non-ship weapons.   Brigadier: Brigadier-rank, responsible for land operations.   Navigator: Usually lieutenant-rank, responsible for navigation.   Helmsman: Two, usually ensign-rank, responsible for piloting the ship.

Crew

Navy: 12-16, divided between tactical and operations duties   Requisitions: 3-5   Army: 8 or less.

Propulsion

Sails, oars. Rare experimental vessels use a prototype Shear Manipulator to provide additional speed and power.

Weapons & Armament

  • 6 weapons mounts (3 port hull, 3 starboard hull).  Harpoon launchers, small cannons, and crossbows are all kept on-ship to be used based on the situation.
  • 3 ballistas (1 fore port hull, 1 fore starboard hull, 1 aft middeck).  Newer vessels carry large naval cannons in place of their ballistas.
  • 40 spears, bows or crossbows, shortswords for crew use
  • 10 special weapons for land crew, usually Blunderbuss or longswords.  Chosen by Brigadier and Chief prior to assignment.
  • 80 harpoons, which can be thrown by hand, loaded into a harpoon launcher, or shot from a ballista.
  • 8 Sixbolts for officer use.

Armor and defense

Hull breams are lined with thin sheet metal.  The rare Anquan-class vessels that are equipped with a shear manipulator forgo this armor due to the shear bubble's natural deflection properties.

Communication Tools & Systems

PCI receiver tuned to N.S.C. private military frequencies. Sending Stone suite linked to N.S.C. command centers.

Hangars & docked vessels

Captain's dinghy, stored below the middeck.
