Kobolds of Carracosta

Kobolds are spread far and wide across the south-eastern part of the island. Once the obedient slaves of dragons like Meleys (The Green Queen) and Sidassiar (The Black Dread), they managed to escape after the untimely deaths of these dragons. The descendants of these kobolds have formed a number of different tribes with their own cultural norms, values and beliefs. Many tribes still revered dragons, though most don’t pray to any dragon particular. The Saltwatch Kin of the far west in particular still bring offerings to the corpse of Sidassiar, whose large body lies buried amidst the putrid sludge of the swamp.

Known Kobold Tribes

Brown Stag Kin

The Brown Stag Kin are the easternmost tribe. They live close by the ocean in the rolling hills, digging horizontal tunnels into the large mounds. The tribe occupies a cluster of hills, with the largest structures right under the arch of the hills themselves, where the sun heats up the soil and warms their communal chambers. Each hill is connected via a series of intricate tunnels.

Saltwatch Kin

The Saltwatch Kin is a small tribe located near the swamp. Their culture heavily focuses on magic and they are capable swimmers, being able to navigate the open seas to some extent. They seem to be too scared to leave land out of sight and as such don’t stray far from the coast in fear of monsters. Their tribe consists out of small tents with a dock and “boats” made of sticks and rope made by the smartest of the bunch. They have started specializing in necromancy in an attempt to raise their former master that they still bring offerings to. The swamp, being an extremely dangerous place, can only be reached with the use of their magic. They sneak or send “offerings” in the form of fallen Kobolds that were raised with magic to move into the swamp “killing” themselves while they have shiny objects on their body next to the body of the dragon.

Stone Woods Tribe

The Stone Woods tribe is a warrior like tribe located at the south end of the island. There is a small cave entrance that would lead to their home. This entrance leads about 100 feet down under the ground eventually ending up in a huge cavern that is about 500 feet by 500 feet. Inside it becomes clear where the stone woods tribe has gained their name from. A small forest where trees grow. These trees seemingly made out of solid rock, their leaves transparent gem like structures that give off light. Inside these trees it is clear that small little houses are made. The entire little town looking like a magical place because of the dim but pleasing gem light. The cavern leading to 3 more caverns of similar size. These are however clearly dug out. The trees within these caverns clearly younger than the ones in the main cavern.
