Port Elesby

Large, affluent port city with a population of 125,000. Multicultural with all known races represented. Founded over six hundred years ago by Cornelius Aldrich, veteran of the Horde War and Admiral of the Cloud Brigade. The Aldrich family ruled as monarchs over Port Elesby and the surrounding area until about one hundred years ago, when Gideon Aldrich abdicated the throne and ended the kingdom. In its place the populace established The Sovereign People's Commonwealth, known colloquially as Aldrich's Commonwealth.
Neighborhoods
Port Elesby has more riches, resources, and opportunities compared to most cities in Valland. Nonetheless, it's numberous neighborhoods vary in size, class, and affluence. Here are a few of the more well-known neighborhoods found in the city:
Aldrich Heights:

Seat of government of the Commonwealth. Residents of this neighborhood are affluent and, often, members of important and connected families.
Butchertown:

The poorest neighborhood in Port Elesby. While not quite a "slum" residents here are much less afluent than the average citizen of the City.
Calico Skies:

Distinguished as much by the gleaming spires that outline the skyline as it is by the wall that prevents the less affluent citizens from entering. It is the center of arcane technology, not only for Port Elesby, but for most of Valland.
The Docks: So many ships carrying cargo and passengers arrive at the docks that it is hard for anyone to keep track of it all. Some say The Traceless are headquartered in The Docks and most know that, if you need to find something that isn't quite legal, then you should start your search here.
The Hatchery:

This neighborhood near the docks is comprised mainly of Kobolds and a smaller population of Gnolls. This gritty area is home to the popular tavern and inn that locals refer to as the Regenerator.
Knight's View:

This affluent neighborhood is home to many merchants and is the banking center of the city. Also, it is the location of the largest graveyard in the city.
Lover's Hill:

This neighborhood is a small area in the west of Port Elesby running alongside Aldrich Boulevard near Gough Street. The Ashva Cathedral is located in Lover's Hill.
Market Sqaure:

The large cobblestone center that comes alive daily with countless cart and tent vendors selling all manner of wares.
Shire's Basin:

A halfling community built in the lowest portion of the city. It is identifiable by the numerous homes and establishments built into the ground.
Tetsubo Hollow:

A secretive community of Tanjirans. Most of the residents keep to themselves and prefer to do their business within the neighborhood. Many of the structures are built in the Tanjiran style.
University District:

Home of University Aiobheean, the most prestigious magic school in all of Valland.

Organizations
Several important organizations call Port Elesby home, including:
University Aiobheean - School of Magic.
The Traceless - Thieves' Guild.

Second largest port on Valland and seat of the government of Aldrich's Commenwealth.
