Liridon
Sometimes known as the Western Capitol, or the Old Capitol, Liridon is an ancient city in Jhanin, that much like the war-torn continent, has changed hands many times over the eras.
The second largest city in Jhanin, second only to Everhold, Liridon has seen a resurgence population and economy as it was the makeshift capitol of the Achaemenid Empire during its infancy. With civil conflict now with the Kyn, the city has renewed importance as the first bastion between the Empire and the rebels.
History
Liridon was founded upon the ruins of a Dwevan mountain city that liberated itself from the Kyn following the invasion. Meaning "Desire for Freedom", its original name is lost to history.
Following the invasion however, it accumulated a sizable Human population, which would later lend in the city's defence against the Kyn hordes trying to reclaim the city. Much of its lower levels collapsed due to tectonic instability in the years following the Invasion, leading to the construction of the sizeable surface sprawl it is known for today.
Liridon's bountiful mines would bolster the city's economy and defence, but also made it an appealing target over the ages. It has been conquered and liberated from numerous outside forces over the age, resulting in a hardy, stalwart people, accepting of change but willing to fight for what they believe in.
The city was made Ahmed Thrakul's capitol during the early days of his Seven Journeys, after he liberated it from an Earth Dragon that had taken home in its lower depths. The ambitious conqueror would however spend little time there as he travelled the world, making it more of a logistical capitol. With the establishment of Ekbatan most administrative power was moved from Liridon. However, with the growing tensions between the Kyn and the Empire, Liridon found itself as the bastion between the hordes and the Empire it was the foundation of.
