The Ormn Magistocracy

The Ormn Magistocracy, otherwise known as the Kingdom of Ormn, the Magistirium, or simply Ormn, is a reclusive nation west of Xhalandar. Ormn, while being one of the few nations to survive the Invasion, is a shadow of its former self.

History

Before the Invasion, even the simplest peasant knew the name Ormn. For over two thousand years Ormn was a beacon of knowledge and understanding upon Castores. For generations, nobleman far and wide would offer all they had to have their children be educated in its grand colleges and libraries. The Magisters, great sages of arcane knowledge, were revered as if Gods, and feared by Kings and Warlords.   Some would say even the Heavens were envious of Ormn.   They were the only mortal nation to have achieved communication with the enigmatic Almazyn and stood alongside them in the early conflicts with the Invaders. However, during the purgation of the crystal-folk, Ormn hid itself for safety. The world largely forgot it existed, becoming a fairy tale of a magical kingdom that fell to the invaders.   However, around the same time as the Great Journeys, the nation emerged again. While still keeping its existent fairly secretive, it has developed an interest in the stability offered by the Achaemenid Empire. The Ormn that emerged though, is a shadow of what it once was. It is unclear what transpired in the interim millennia, but much of the city appears to have been rebuilt, and other portions of it abandoned.

Demography and Population

The populace of Ormn is roughly split between Fallen Fey  and Dwevan, and is one of the few places in the non-Fey or Amukreen dominated world to have a negligible population of Humans.   The Elves and Dwevan of Ormn are in some ways of window into the past however, for its dwarves have a more lean build with a golden complexion, while its elves boast impressive magical prowess despite having no relation to the Courts.

Technological Level

Even before the Invasion, Ormn was the pinnacle of advancement upon Castores, save perhaps the floating cities of the Almazyn with whom they were close allies. Today they have lost some of their grandure and wonder, seeming to maintain their blend of magic and technology rather than progress it. However, they still stand as the most advanced nation of the world, guarding their knowledge and powerfully carefully from outsides, whom they consider barbarians.
