Dragonborn
People of Dragons
These beings, born of eggs, are humanoids made in the image of dragons, have existed since the First World, before the split of the multiverse itself. This means their origin dates back to what only the draconic deities may know. This means they are the oldest humanoids of the Eladrian Multiverse. However, even now, these dragons continue to adapt and change.
Dragonborn of the World
Dragonborns around the world are very different depending on where they were born and raised. If born and raised among mammalian humanoids, they take on a more humanoid appearance, spending less time in their eggs and have a more human-like childhood, like echidnas or platypuses. The more time a family line of Dragonborn spend around other mammalian humanoids, the more like them they become, with some long interbred lines of mammalian humanoids and Dragonborns creating a new species known as the Dragonkin. However, the simply more human-like individuals are known as “Civil Dragonborns”, and retain the bright colors of dragons, as well as some keeping their tails. However, if they are born within their own societies, either completely separated from other humanoids, or at least dominantly lizard-like creatures, the Dragonborn become more like their Half-Dragon cousins. Their young are born of their eggs as young children, spending more than a year in the egg alone. This has become known as a “true” Dragonborn. These Dragonborns tend to have a fairly mixed ancestry, and because of such most lack tails and are brass or bronze in color, but can range from scarlet, rust, gold, or a copper-green.
In the Eyes of the People
Dragonborn can be seen in everyday life, living amongst the human and halfling societies of the world. These beings tend to specialize in duties that require hard physical labor, or taxing mental challenges. Many Dragonborn can be seen as deep in lore in libraries, helping load ships at the docks, working the land in the fields. Dragonborn also make excellent courtiers, especially if a nation has a problem with a dragon. They have been called the “servants of dragons”, and while some deny this title, some claim it with pride.
