Ornamain

QSS Ornamain - the ship that carried souls to a soulless galaxy. It was a long-range exploration vessel, capable of building a large colony with limited support from outside sources. Every requirement could be fulfilled by this one ship. The Ornamain was an absolutely massive vessel coming in at over 16 kilometers long and 5.8 kilometers wide. It was propelled by 16 antimatter engines enhanced with a slush hydrogen injection that was able to accelerate the 5 million tons of ship and cargo at up to 5.4 m/s2.

Etymology

The QSS Ornamain was named after a bird of the same name. Native to Arquia, the Ornamain is an extinct migratory bird and one of the highest flying birds known to live on the planet. It flew across hemispheres in its migratory path which took to temperate coastlines.

Colonization Mission

The Ornamain was built to transport material and equipment to the Protea Galaxy to establish a permanent settlement in the galaxy for further exploration. The ship carried superstructure components to set up the Angelbird Gate which was its primary mission. Its secondary mission was to establish a base of operations on the planet Litianam using local and transported materials.   Most of the ship was to be cannibalized; used to complete Angelbird Gate and City. In the end the Ornamain would become a station positioned midway between Litianam and the L2 Lagrange point where Angelbird Gate is positioned.

Design

The QSS Ornamain follows the Quadriarma design standard for vessels of its type- a long structure supporting most of the ships systems with habitation rings in the forward third of the ship with propulsion behind the habitation rings. However, the Ornamain was sleeker than usual. It had plenty of exposed components to make it look rough, but the tail section and the area around the engines were covered. The ship also had a darker livery than most other vessels. A stone gray base paint with red and yellow colorations was wildly different from the typically white and purple color scheme of other science and exploration vessels.   The engines were also quite different. Four pods of four engines where situated within the ship's hull instead of in nacelles. These fired out into space at a 30 degree offset as to avoid turning the ship into plasma. Although this design choice was expensive, it created a space when removed that could be used for cargo or as a hanger in the station conversion. The antimatter engines were to be used on small exploration vessels.

What a cool design for a colonize ship. I love that it gets to be completely used after his travels for building the living areas very cool design

Let's have fun creating the impossible, building new worlds, and all types of possibilities. Valcin
