The Webthicket

Wooded area in the southeast of the midlands famous for its webdrowner population. Villages on its border have a festival in which they harvest this silk from the edges of the forest, leaving offerings of meat in return.   Deeper into the forest are more dangerous predators.   While the The Pitch Black Forest is a wood 'corrupted' by Darkness , the Webthicket is more of an ancient, borderline primordial, thing which stays true to its original nature. The megafauna here are neither extraplanars nor spirits . Some of the deep Webthicket's most prominent creatures are dinosaurs- or at least, very close approximations of the concept.   In the time before the Shattered Jungle earned its name, it and the Webthicket were connected. A vast swathe of woodland occupying the middle of the continent, filled with all manner of beasts: Eid's playground and testbed for designs. Creatures were made and left to roam free- the ones which settled furthest north being a particularly creative species of spiderwolf, leading to the webs that lend the region its name today.
