Solaice

Solaice is a relatively new city, built up in the Ennich Basin, it's primary source of income is from agriculture, the soil is highly fertile and there is plenty of water and grazing land for livestock. Despite being out in the middle of the country, many Noble houses and wealthy lower born people have settled in the city, it's cheap to buy land due to the space and distance off the main roads and there is a good profit to be made in agriculture. However, the distance from major trade routes and isolation from the other major cities resulted in Solaice being considered a rather dull and boring place to live. In response, the bored Nobles and wealthy farm owners started holding lavish, elaborate parties to liven things up. All manner of events are organised all year round, Fairs, Carnivals, Masquerade Balls, Competitive Mystery Dinners and more.
In fact, the majority of the Noble families (and even low borns with the funds) try to one up each others parties every year, going bigger and more elaborate than before. Of course being off the main trade routes for exotic goods has meant that a lot of wealth has flowed out of the city and slowly merchants are catching on that there are a lot of bored, wealthy people looking for the latest curiosities to pique their interest.
This obsession amongst the wealthy of the city has earned Solaice a bit of a reputation as a silly place.
