Cornelius had been dual-casting a ninth-level spell with his sister, Camilla, on a Deus tree. Alone, they weren't powerful enough; their combined magic, however, was just enough. Something went wrong, though-- the spell slipped from their control, resulting in the Cornelius being struck dead.
