Flowisham

Located in Cenedl Llywelyn on the northeast shore of Lake Keelrey in Iesweytonshire.   The easternmost port on Lake Keelrey, Flowisham operates as the portal to the west for eastern and northeastern Ieswetonshire, as well as parts of the Shengen Republic. It is one of the oldest ports on Lake Keelrey, being strategically located for both trade, and - if the tales are to be believed - defense against sea monsters that travel to the lake from the ocean.
"... and it was there that I saw, in the deep blackness of keelrey
a creature of such awe, move quick through the bleary
I knew then I couldn't but run..."
- Verse from untitled folk prose
pg. 76, 'Songs of the depths'

Geography

The center of the city is encircled in a fortified wall with towers approximately every 50 yards and two main gates - one to the north and one to the south.
In total there are 5 distinct neighborhoods within the town, including three - which combined make up just over half of the town - that either partially or fully exist outside of the wall. They are:
The Barrow
  • Outside the north gate
  • Mostly residential, some agriculture
The Harbour Ward
  • Inside the wall, surrounding the docks
  • Industrial/commercial district
  • District also houses municipal services
Old Flowisham

  • Inside the wall surrounding city square
  • Town market and hospitality district
Southgate

  • Surrounding both the interior and exterior of the south gate
  • Section inside the wall consists of hospitality upperclass housing
  • Outside the wall is merchant/middle class housing
Feycrown

  • Located south and west of the Southgate, outside the walll
  • Home to the redlight/vice district
  • District density is higher than the other four due to a large majority of lower and worker class housing

Economy

It is the busiest port in Cenedl Llywelyn and one of the busiest in Iesweytonshire.
Nearly 38% of residents are directly employed by the Flowisham Port, and 65% of the local economy is dependant on the constant flow of ships from the ports.
Trade operates on common currency, though bartering with local vendors is not unheard of

Culture

Local cuisine consists mostly of seafood, though because they are able to import beef and pork, they do have a wider repertoire than other lakeside communities
Music and folk tales from the town are nearly inseparable from each other, and are nearly always tied to the mythos of the lake.
