Session 0: Losses and Gains

General Summary

It is the day of the Summer Solstice, 23 AR. The session starts with the friends following Dante along the trail to The Sunken City. Due to their haste, they were ambushed by a small group of panthers! After chasing off these beasts, the group continued to the ruins and found Francesco trapped under some rubble. As Dante and Gnarly Toes pull the young Tiefling out, the ground crumbled and Dante fell several floors through the ruins. Francesco and his Tortle friend Riki were sent back to the trail to wait for the friends. As the friends descended to help out Dante, to their horror, they watched as a shadowy figure pierced into his throat with its hand. Xabu heard the cry of the Silver Flame calling for this beings destruction. As Dante let out a gurgled death cry, the pair teleported away in a burst of gray smoke. The ceiling collapsing behind them, the friends took a moment to gather their thoughts and explore the workshop they found. As the friends found several trinkets and possible magical items, Althea tripped over a round object and bumped into a suit of armor. It ended up being the warforged named R311C, "Relic", who would go on to become their friend. The friends then set about finding their way through a labyrinth of coral caverns to find the surface and safety before dusk. In the caverns, Felix discovers a large opalescent crystal formation that had an aura of strong magic about it. The crystal seemed to be tainted by an unknown energy. As the team travelled along the final stretch toward Lookout's Landing, the Miasma began swirling about their feet. This is when Dances on Stumps found his passive ability to keep The Mist at bay. With this new power, the team made their way back to the town, and were greeted by a group of parents just banding to go searching for their children. Dante was never seen again.
